Congressman Clyburn to deliver keynote at 1st Annual James K. Davis Scholarship Dinner to be Held at Twelve Hotel, Atlantic Station
ATLANTA, March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Atlanta Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) will welcome the Honorable U.S. Congressman James E. Clyburn (D), representing the Sixth District of South Carolina, as the keynote speaker at the organization's first annual James K. Davis Scholarship Dinner.
"We are so honored and pleased to have a national thought-leader of Congressman Clyburn's stature to address the members and constituents of AABE," says Eric Arnold, president of the Atlanta Chapter of AABE. "In addition, at this important juncture in the country's energy future, we look forward to learning more about important national polices and agendas directly from Congressman Clyburn."
The purpose of the AABE Atlanta Chapter Scholarship is to assist African-American, Hispanic and Native American students with the cost of pursuing a bachelor's degree in an energy-related field at an accredited college or university. The scholarship dinner honors the legacy of namesake (the late) James K. Davis, formerly Georgia Power's senior vice president of employee and corporate relations and a founder of AABE who passed away in 2003 shortly after retirement.

Reception: A cocktail reception (cash bar) begins at 6:30.
Dinner and Keynote Address: A seated dinner will begin at 7:30 in the Grand Ballroom.
Music and Dancing will follow immediately after dinner.
Tracye Hutchins of CBS Atlanta will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event. Ms. Hutchins co-anchors Better Mornings Atlanta, which airs weekdays on CBS Atlanta from 4:30 a.m.-7 a.m.
