Through seminars, policy programs, conferences, and leadership development initiatives, the Aspen Institute Mexico will provide the opportunity for leaders from industry, economic and political sectors, civil society, and the cultural world to work on critical current challenges facing society and businesses. Both the Aspen Institute and Aspen Mexico welcome this mutually beneficial partnership and the opportunities it creates for the exchange of ideas and leadership development to build stronger societies, and as Mexico continues to increase its global presence and importance.
"I'm thrilled to have Aspen Mexico join us as the latest of our international partners — and our first outpost in Latin America. The world-class leaders and organizations supporting this nascent group show that it is off to an auspicious start and will provide the platform necessary to galvanize the next generation of leaders as they guide their country and region through political, economic, and social challenges," said Walter Isaacson, president and CEO of the Aspen Institute.
Aspen Mexico will be headed by a board of directors chaired by Juan Ramón de la Fuente, former president of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and formerly Mexico's Secretary of Health.
"I welcome the task of producing vibrant forums that will promote deep analysis of the major challenges faced by Mexican society, with the goal of providing viable alternatives and innovative solutions," commented Juan Ramón de la Fuente. "I am confident that Mexico will be better equipped to move forward to build an ever better Mexico through knowledge shared through Aspen's international network and from leaders across Mexico and the world."
The executive director will be Fernando Espinosa de los Reyes, former president of Universidad del Caribe, who will design and supervise the programs and financing sources of the institution.
