The American Red Cross to Use Whoop as Platform for Multiple Mobile Apps
Whoop's Web-Based Mobile Publishing Platform Powers Red Cross Apps on BlackBerry, Google Android and Windows Mobile
ATLANTA, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Whoop announced today that the American Red Cross will use Whoop's SaaS publishing platform to launch new applications on Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile platforms that will enable the public to follow Red Cross Haiti earthquake relief efforts, learn about other Red Cross programs and make donations.
"The tremendous response in mobile donations after the Haiti earthquake sparked us to bolster our mobile initiatives to those with BlackBerries, Android and Windows Mobile devices," said Peggy Dyer, chief marketing officer of the American Red Cross. "Whoop's donation of its mobile publishing platform and production of dynamic rich media mobile apps across multiple operating systems and devices, will enable the public to learn more about the continuing relief efforts in Haiti. I would like to thank Whoop and its employees for their commitment to the Red Cross and disaster survivors."
These free mobile applications will allow easy access to live Red Cross news updates, Twitter posts, streamlined donations via text message, the Red Cross web site and 1-800 numbers, and registration for email, Facebook and Twitter updates.
"The scope of the disaster in Haiti demands constant, ongoing support for the relief efforts to have a lasting and meaningful impact," said Mark Morel, chairman and CEO of Whoop. "We are proud to work with the American Red Cross to ensure that millions of mobile users will have an opportunity to remain personally connected at all times."
