The data from Internet Retailer's just-published 2015 Top 500 Guide® show that the fastest-growing online retailers are small, mostly web-only niche players ranked 301-400.
CHICAGO, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- North America's 500 largest web merchants account for 84% of all e-retailing sales in the U.S., according to Internet Retailer's newly published 2015 Top 500 Guide®. Now in its 12th edition, the 352-page 2015 Top 500 Guide® ranks the 500 leading e-retailers in the U.S. and Canada based on their annual web sales. Data from the Guide show that the fastest-growing web merchants are those ranked between 301-400: Mostly niche merchants, many selling only online, that grew their collective web sales by 18.5% in 2014.
The fastest-growing e-retailer, according to the data in the 2015 Top 500 Guide®, is Blue Apron, a web-only grocer of ready-to-cook ingredients and prepared meals. The company grew 2014 web sales 550% to $65 million, landing the No. 318 spot in the Top 500 rankings. Blue Apron is one of 42 web merchants that are completely new to Internet Retailer's e-commerce rankings.
