The 8th Edition of Tata Interactive Learning Forum saw International Speakers and Industry Experts discuss Learning and Performance in a Flat World

The exclusive, annual Tata Interactive Learning Forum (TLF)-US held at Chateau Elan, Greater Atlanta, Georgia saw acclaimed international speakers and industry experts discussing and sharing experiences in Remodeling the L&D Space in a Flat World.
TLF 2011, by Tata Interactive Systems (the world's leading developer of learning solutions), was held in Sept at Chateau Elan, Greater Atlanta, Georgia.
The TLF is a global symposium where leaders and decision makers from the learning and training space come together to share their ideas, innovations, and insights. This unique platform provides learning leaders the opportunity to share their experiences in corporate learning, network with like-minded peers and examine case studies of key learning initiatives at other organizations.
The 8th Edition of TLF concluded in US earlier this month. The event featured separate tracks for corporate and education segments of the learning industry. The Education track was themed The Digitized Classroom and the Corporate track was themed Remodeling the L&D Space in a Flat world.
The Education track witnessed eminent speakers and industry experts like Dr. Alan D Carswell, Chair-Cybersecurity & Information Assurance-University of Maryland and University College (UMUC), Stephen Laster, CIO from Harvard Business School, Susan Kryczka, COO-Educators Serving Educators, George Claffey, CIO-Charter Oak State College, John J Greene III, Asst Dean-Excelsior College, Dr. Leonard Bess from Fashion Institute of Technology and Don Marinelli, Executive Director-Carnegie Mellon University.
The Corporate track saw experts like Bob Bennett, CLO-FedEx, John Constantine, Executive Director-Merck Polytechnic Institute, Korinne Collins, VP-Training- CIBC Retail Markets, Laura Quevedo VP-HR-Diageo, Michiel Versteeg, Director, Safety & Environment compliance-Holland America Line and Seabourn Cruises, Derek Cunard Dean- America Heart University, Sean Dineen, VP-Talent development- Luxottica, Dave Johnson Learning Executive- Bank of America, and Elliot Rosenberg Director, Learning Services AT&T.
Elliott Masie, Founder of The Masie Center was the keynote speaker and chaired a panel discussion.
Some key sessions (Education Track):
- The session on Centralized Development and Strategies, where Dr. Alan D Carswell discussed the case of the online masters program on cyber security developed for UMUC by Tata Interactive Systems (TIS). He emphasized on meticulous planning before the project start which largely contributed to the project success.
- Stephen Laster's session on Developing your Institution's Online Strategy focused on creating an online strategy for schools and colleges from start.
- George Claffey's session on Selecting the Right Learning Management System gave a perspective on how future learning will be consumed amidst the plethora of delivery options like mobiles, tablets and desktops.
- Dr. Leonard Bess spoke on Simulation use in the Classroom where he took a dull application training course, which students of the fashion design found disengaging and turned it into a simulation developed by TIS. This highly engaging and contextually relevant program was an instant hit with students; it also earned the highest student ratings in FIT.
Some key session highlights (Corporate track):
- The session by Elliott Masie on Remodeling the L&D Space in a Flat World focused on the learning needs of the multi-generational workforce with a shift in learning expectations. The session also dwelled on issues of shorter, flexible, affordable, intense, aligned, tracked, current and global learning.
- In the session on Pushing the Frontiers of Learning & Development Sean Dineen shared how his L&D organization at Luxottica introduced solutions that were cutting edge in the industry.
- Laura Quevedo's session on Creating the Conditions for Extraordinary Experiences at Work for Global Employees and Great Performance brought in the perspective of learning as a tool for HR leaders that would enable them to create extraordinary experiences at workplace which in turn would lead to great performances.
The forum saw Participation from organization/institutes like Abbott Labs, Time Warner Cable, Citibank, GE Aviation, Metlife, The World Bank, Alcon Laboratories, Western Georgia Technical College, California State University, Georgetown University, Hampton University, Education Management Corporation to name a few.
The 8th Edition of TLF- US was a huge success with nearly 100 heads of HR, CLOs and University heads gathering for this 3 day event.
