The 2nd Annual Native Sons Salt Games to Rock Ocean Boulevard
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., May 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Salt Games, presented by Native Sons, is a weekend full of competition hosted in Myrtle Beach, S.C. for athletes in a variety of sports. From volleyball and surfing to skateboarding and Crossfit, visitors can stop by this free event and watch or participate in the games held on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the old Pavilion Site on Ocean Boulevard between 8th and 9th Avenue. Events will run Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; some events do require a registration fee.
The Salt Games will feature the following activities:
- Community yoga class
- The Salt Games Pro/Am Surf Competition
- Carolina Paddle Co. Paddleboard Race
- Peaches Corner Hot Dog Eating Contest
- The Ben & Jerry's Kids Shark Run
- Coors Light Pro Beach Volley tournament
- Tug-O-War
- Malibu Surf Bar's Bikini Contest
- Crossfit Up Dog Summer Challenge
- The Lifeguard Games featuring all lifeguards from six beach services battling each other in a relay race and one-on-one drills.
The event will also include fire dancers, a hula-hoop competition and a moonlight concert series featuring Incredibly Tall People, Not Yet Rated and many more. Proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation.
"We had a great event in 2013; there were locals and tourists all enjoying some fun in the sun," said Steve Taylor of Native Sons. "This year we are adding some new events like the Pro/Am Surf Competition. We're also adding a social element where attendees can live tweet, post and Instagram #saltgames to win prizes.
