The 28th Annual iaedp Symposium Announces 2014 Keynote Speakers
PEKIN, Ill., Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) Foundation's 2014 Symposium, slated for Feb. 27 - March 2, 2014 at the TradeWinds Island Resort on St. Pete Beach, Fla., announces the keynote speakers as the headliners addressing innovative approaches to eating disorder treatment.
"Our mission each year is to bring together the leading authorities in research and treatment of eating disorders and co-occurring conditions," said Bonnie Harken, Managing Director at The iaedp Foundation.
During the 2014 Symposium, three keynote speakers – Kelly G. Wilson, PhD; Joan Borysenko, Ph.D.; and Carolyn Costin, MFT, CEDS – will offer training sessions and instructive presentations to the expected 600 attendees.
Dr. Wilson, a professor of psychology and award winning lecturer at the University of Mississippi, is one of the co-developers of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and has published 45 articles, 35 chapters and 10 books. He is also the former President of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, former Representative-at-Large of the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology, and directs the University of Mississippi Center for Contextual Psychology. Dr. Borysenko, founding partner and director of Mind-Body Health Sciences, LLC in Boulder, Colo. is a pioneer in the field of stress and health, and has authored numerous peer reviewed articles and 15 books, including the New York Times best seller Minding the Body, Mending the Mind. Her doctorate is in cellular biology from the Harvard Medical School where she also completed three post-doctoral fellowships in experimental pathology, behavioral medicine and psychoneuroimmunology. Carolyn Costin, MEd, MFT, CEDS, has been a specialist in the treatment of eating disorders for over three decades. As a previous board member of NEDA, a current board member of iaedp™ and a fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders, Carolyn is intimately involved in the field. Costin is the founder and executive director of Monte Nido & Affiliates, which includes residential, transitional and day treatment programs in Los Angeles, New York and Eugene and Portland, OR. Carolyn's books, The Eating Disorder Source Book, 100 Questions and Answers about Eating Disorders, 8 Keys to Recovery and Your Dieting Daughter (updated edition 2013), have helped those suffering and treatment professionals understand, prevent and treat eating disorders.
