The 26th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon Hits Zuma Beach
More Than 5,300 Participants Compete To Benefit Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program
MALIBU, Calif., Sept. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 16, 2012, Zuma Beach will be bustling with athletes, celebrities, and supporters preparing for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. In its 26th year, competitors will swim, bike and run to raise money for the Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program.
At 7:15 a.m., the Classic Distance Race will begin with a half-mile ocean swim in the Pacific Ocean, an 18-mile bike ride and four-mile run through Zuma Beach.
Proceeds from the Nautica Malibu Triathlon will benefit the Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Last year, the event raised more than $1.1 million with the help of celebrity participants including Ed Helms, Rainn Wilson and Jon Cryer.

Dedicated to curing and preventing childhood cancers, the Pediatric Cancer Research Program at CHLA provides groundbreaking treatments and therapies for children with some of the most life-threatening cancers.

The Nautica Malibu Triathlon is comprised of two races including the Herbalife International Distance Race on Saturday, September 15th, where participants race through a 1.5K swim, 40K bike course and 10K run along the sands of Zuma Beach and the Classic Distance Race on Sunday, September 16th. Event-goers can also participate in the Nautica Kids Run, Tot Trot, and enjoy games at the Fun Zone.
