MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 2015 Compliance and Ethics Officer Salary Survey report released by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) reveals detailed compensation data for Chief Compliance Officers (CCOs) and their staffs across industries. The survey data revealed that CCOs at the largest companies (more than $3 billion in annual revenues) earn an average of $272,002 while those at small organizations with revenues of less than $5 million earned $145,400. The study also noted that more than one-third of the responding chief compliance officers manage compliance in more than one country.
"The data reveals the growing importance and reach of compliance and ethics officers," said SCCE CEO Roy Snell. "Compensation reflects the fact that this profession is growing, and the data showed that a sizable number now manage compliance globally."
The survey breaks down the results by organization size as well as other key metrics; survey data is sorted by geographic region, certifications held, the type of organization, the number of years managing compliance departments, etc. The research provides results, in addition to data for Chief Compliance and Ethics Officers, for Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers and Assistants/Specialists.
Compensation for compliance professionals at publicly traded companies outstripped that of other organizations. The average salary for CCOs at publicly-traded companies averaged $230,811, well above those at privately-held companies at $176,159. CCOs at governmental entities had the lowest average compensation at $122,479.
This survey was conducted by Industry Insights, Inc., for SCCE in June 2015 and was completed in October 2015.
