Thayer Coggin To Premiere Milo Baughman's The Good Egg Swivel Lounge Chair At 2014 Fall High Point Furniture Market
HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Thayer Coggin will premiere a midcentury, modern classic from legendary furniture designer Milo Baughman at the 2014 Fall High Point Furniture Market.
The modern sculptural Good Egg swivel lounge chair (No. 1304-113) features a bold elipitical form, resembling a scooped out eggshell. With an ultra-comfortable, polyblendown seat, luxurious fiber and down back cushions and a precision swivel, circular upholstered base, the Good Egg is built for comfort and modern style. Due to the complex upholstery required to assemble its daring form, the Good Egg chair will be available in only a select list of approved Thayer Coggin fabrics.
The Good Egg was initially designed by Milo Baughman in 1967 and originally fabricated with a rigid urethance shell. Thayer Coggin's engineering team has updated the chair with a new precision plywood construction (CAD) to enhance its structural integrity and durability.
For 60 years, Thayer Coggin (1922-2003) and Milo Baughman (1923-2003) had a collaborative relationship producing iconic furniture that came to define the mid-century, modern American aesthetic. Both men are members of the American Furniture Hall of Fame. Baughman's work was included in "High Styles: Twentieth Century American Design" at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
