Thayer Coggin To Premiere Milo Baughman's Spacey Seating System At 2015 Spring High Point Furniture Market

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Thayer Coggin will unveil Spacey, a new modern seating system from legendary furniture designer Milo Baughman at the 2015 Spring High Point Furniture Market.

The smartly tailored Spacey sofa (No. 1330-303) and Spacey lounge chair (No. 1330-103) feature captivating, complex button-less tufted upholstery supported by a signature Baughman metal frame – available in either polished stainless steel or brushed bronze. With a tight foam/fiber seat and welting detail running along the upholstered base and back, Spacey cuts a seductive yet graceful profile.

Due to the complex upholstery required to assemble its daring button-less tufting, Spacey is available in select fabrics (no prints or stripes). Custom built by the master craftspeople in Thayer Coggin's High Point workshops, Spacey stars as a true American Beauty.

The seating system was initially designed by Milo Baughman in 1968. Thayer Coggin's engineering team has updated the sofa and chair to enhance its structural performance and durability, and Design Director Guy Hill, a Baughman protege, has created its new tailored arms.

Thayer Coggin will also premiere the armless version of Spacey, designated as the Wright seating system, during the High Point Market. For 60 years, Thayer Coggin (1922-2003) and Milo Baughman (1923-2003) had a collaborative relationship producing iconic furniture that came to define the mid-century, modern American aesthetic. Both men are members of the American Furniture Hall of Fame. Baughman's work was included in "High Styles: Twentieth Century American Design" at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
