Thailand Shines as Premiere Business Events Destination
BANGKOK, May 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Unrivalled destinations, limitless business prospects, and proficient professionals: while these three hallmarks of a top business event host are widely known and often strived for, they are rarely achieved.
Under the stewardship of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization), or TCEB, Thailand is positioning itself as a business events destination that offers all three and more. As the Thai government's flagship body for the sector, TCEB is playing a leading role in driving Thailand's leadership position in Asia's business events industry, and Bangkok's role as a premiere destination for international business events.
Highlighting a variety of destinations, on top of ninth internationally recognised international convention and exhibition centres, offering a total of 200,174 square metres of floor space, Thailand can offer unrivalled business events experiences that are never stuck in the normal business hours.
Voted as the world's best destination for nightlife, Thailand will turn traditional business events programme up a notch with truly extravagant experiences. Thailand's night-time colours - from local night markets, to the distinctively Thai tastes of street cuisine - will spark vibrant social connections for businesses. In addition, a brilliant blend of local activities throughout the calendar years enables Thailand to play host to any business event in any seasons, from summer to rainy and winter, made even more perfect with unique event experiences inspired by nature.
Complimented by geographical variety from the mountainous and lush green forest in the North, to the cultural crossroads in the Central, and stretches of white sandy beaches and ultimate active archipelagos in the South, Thailand can help organizers add value to their business event with CSR activities such as releasing turtles, cultivating coral, cleaning up the beach and planting sea grass, feed rescued elephants, build check dams, or conduct aerial reforestation, and engage in mangrove reforestation.
From high-potential exhibitions that create connections in a productive, inspiring atmosphere with valuable networking opportunities, to association meetings that benefit from venues and professionals certified to international standards, to Thailand's endless possibilities for relaxation and inspiring attractions; Thailand's offers the perfect blend of business and leisure.
Confirmed confidence for industry leading business events
Reinforcing its leadership position as a preferred business events destination in Asia, Thailand will play host to a diverse line-up of confirmed major events in 2015.
Among the most significant recent wins is the FDI 2015 Annual World Dental Congress, which will be held from 22 - 25 September 2015, a unique industry forum involving leaders of the dental profession from more than one hundred countries, as well as top personalities of the international and national trade and industry. Strong collaboration between TCEB and a range of other government agencies instilled unity and confidence in the bid, while Thailand's wide variety of destinations were seen as a unique asset -- meaning delegates could enjoy an unmatched and inspiring pre- and post-event programme.
Another prestigious win is One Young World Summit 2015, which Bangkok will host during 18 - 21 November 2015. As the first city in Asia to host this illustrious event, Bangkok was chosen among other leading contenders, including Kobe (Japan) and Hong Kong. One Young World is the world's premier forum for young leaders, with past speakers including Kofi Anan, Sir Richard Branson, and Professor Muhammad Yunus.
This annual summit gathers together approximately 2,000 young visionaries aged 18-30 from every corner of the world, who are leaders in their respective fields. No youth-dominated event outside the Olympic Games brings together more countries than One Young World. The bid was won in the midst of political uncertainty last year, and underscores international confidence in Thailand.
From youth leadership, to dentistry, to travel media: Bangkok was also named host city for TBEX Asia 2015, scheduled for 15 - 17 October 2015. Recognising the continent's immense market potential and strong growth in visitor numbers, TBEX Asia 2015 will provide platform for the world's largest gathering of travel bloggers, writers, new media content creators, and social media savvy travel industry professionals. The bid was won thanks to strong synergies between relevant government organisations working together including Tourism Authority of Thailand, TCEB and Thai Airways, emphasizing the TCEB's 4P (Public-Private-People Partnership) strategic direction.
Thailand is ready to connect the world to success
Regardless of the industry, large-scale business events are attracted to Thailand thanks to two key factors. The first is the country's unique offerings, which are captured under TCEB's all-encompassing Thailand CONNECT The World integrated campaign. The campaign highlights Thailand's unrivalled destinations, business prospects, and people. Under 'Destinations', Thailand's five top tier business events cities are showcased, offering limitless options both inside and outside the event venue. 'Business' highlights how, as a world leader in a range of industries, Thailand harnesses regional integration to offer global prospects and opportunities to businesses seeking a springboard for AEC success. 'People' emphasises Thailand's proficient professionals who serve with effortless simplicity, gracious smiles and signature Thai service, as well as benchmark-setting industry standards.
Commenting on the campaign, TCEB president Mr Nopparat Maythaveekulchai emphasised that "Thailand CONNECT the World highlights how Thailand's diversity of destinations are enriched by world-class infrastructure and seamless connectivity, and it is a core part of our strategy to strengthen confidence in our MICE industry among international stakeholders."
The second factor is Thailand's world-class infrastructure -- from convenient and efficient mass transit systems that links every part of Bangkok through the BTS Skytrain to the MRT underground, to an modern highway system. This is set to be boosted even further thorough a major infrastructure investment programme, including high-speed rail and the second phase expansion of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport. It also includes the 'East-West Economic Corridor' (EWEC) development policy, which enjoys strong investment by the Japanese Government. Designed to connect five countries, from Da Nang in Vietnam to China, Laos, Thailand and Mawlamyine-Myawaddy in Myanmar, the EWEC will be a game-changer, creating a springboard for business success in the fast-growing ASEAN region.
Through a combination of these initiatives and major events such as the One Young World Summit 2015, the FDI 2015 Annual World Dental Congress, and TBEX Asia 2015, the Thai business events sector is expected to continue to grow strongly in 2015, welcoming 1,036,300 business events visitors, and generating revenue of approximately US$3.55 billion.
