PARIS and BRUSSELS, Oct 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Together for Sustainability (TfS), the sustainability initiative of the chemical industry, and EcoVadis, the most trusted collaborative platform providing sustainability performance ratings, announced the extension of their partnership to further advance sustainable practices in the supply chain of the chemical industry.
Since its beginnings in 2011, TfS has achieved tremendous growth in membership and supplier CSR performance assessments. With 22 members worldwide and more than 10,000 supplier assessments in total, TfS is living up to its aim to become a global standard for sustainable supply chains in the chemical industry. TfS developed and continues to implement a program to assess, audit and improve sustainability practices — sharing the results of sustainability assessments and audits across all members, one of the key aspects of the initiative.
The TfS approach consists of two core elements: TfS assessments conducted by EcoVadis and TfS audits conducted by independent audit companies. The strategic partnership between TfS and EcoVadis ensures a consistent and reliable supplier assessment approach. The EcoVadis process provides reliable sustainability ratings covering 21 environmental, labor and human rights, and ethics for global supply chains. More than 50,000 companies worldwide use EcoVadis to reduce risk, drive innovation and foster transparency and trust between trading partners.
"TfS is pleased to extend our strategic partnership with EcoVadis, and we look forward to further increasing our impact on the sustainability performance in our global supply chains," said Rüdiger Eberhard, President of TfS and Chief Procurement Officer of Evonik Industries. "The continued positive development of supplier scorecards, with more than 80% of suppliers either maintaining or improving their scores upon re-evaluation, proves the effectiveness of the EcoVadis assessments and platform."
"The global scale and positive impact TfS has achieved through their impressive growth in just seven years, made possible by the clear vision and very strong commitments of the Chief Procurement Officers of all member companies, makes them a strong role model of a sector initiative," added EcoVadis co-CEO and co-Founder Pierre-François Thaler. "We are very proud to be continuing our work with TfS on bringing the sustainability performance in the chemical industry to the next level."
