TFO wins a second position at the IBC 2014 Innovation Award
TORONTO, Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ - In Amsterdam, last Sunday, Groupe Média TFO finished second for a "Content Management" award at the closing gala of the IBC 2014 Innovation Awards. This is a first for a Canadian media company. The IBC Innovation Awards, a prestigious international prize, reward technological innovation in the media industry.
"Receiving this recognition is a significant milestone for Ontario's public media company, highlighting the quality of Groupe Média TFO's educational content, at the leading edge of technology. We are very honoured to get this high-level achievement confirming our leadership in a dynamic and highly competitive context, as we offer a technological innovation model that will contribute to the development of new production standards", states Glenn O'Farrell, President and CEO of Groupe Média TFO.
The originality of TFO's model has its roots in the implementation of a new production environment based on effective and cutting-edge tools. The result? An improvement in the production capacity of the broadcaster, allowing it transform from a television station with a linear production flow into a cross-platform content producer that can create content in a few hours (rather than a few days) for any platform. The success of this shift is manifest: with its new model, TFO has gone from 3 editing rooms to 50 editing stations, allowing it to improve its number of productions by 40%, while decreasing its reliance on freelancers by 50%.
"I would like to thank IBC for this prestigious recognition that allows us to globally position ourselves as an innovative media outlet within the industry. Many thanks to IPV, Adobe, Signiant, Oracle, EMC and Applied Electronics for their excellent collaboration throughout the whole project. Conditioned by limited capital resources, TFO had also proven innovation has no boundaries. As part of its innovative content factory strategy,
TFO doesn't think that television is the sole output but represents just one of manyʺ, adds Éric Minoli, Chief Technology and Optimization Officer of Groupe Média TFO.
Almost 250 projects were presented for consideration by the IBC 2014 Innovation Awards and only three were nominated, including Groupe Média TFO's. IBC is a major event at which the world's biggest players in the electronic media and entertainment industry come to share their knowledge. The role of the IBC Awards is to celebrate the personalities and organisations best demonstrating creativity and collaboration.
