Texas de Brazil Opens First Manhattan Location in Lenox Hill
Popular Brazilian Steakhouse Partners with City Harvest to Help Feed New York's Hungry
NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas de Brazil, the nation's premier Brazilian steakhouse, today announced the opening of its first New York City location. The award-winning, fine dining concept, which features a unique menu of Southern Brazilian cuisine served with the generous spirit of Texas, is carving out an exciting new experience in the Lenox Hill dining scene.
The restaurant, which accommodates 325 guests, will donate $1 of each signature Caipirinha (a traditional Brazilian cocktail) sold during the month of February to City Harvest, the world's first and New York City's only food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the more than one million residents facing hunger.
"We are extremely excited to become a part of the Lenox Hill neighborhood and cater to NYC guests for the first time," said Salim Asrawi, chief operating officer at Texas de Brazil. "Our partnership with City Harvest allows us to give back to the community and thank New Yorkers for welcoming us to the city."
"City Harvest is thrilled that Texas de Brazil is coming to the New York City dining scene, and appreciate its support of our mission," said Naomi Giges Downey, Director Special Events at City Harvest. "We are always so happy to welcome a new restaurant to the neighborhood that wants to help us feed hungry New Yorkers."
The City Harvest Caipirinha will be made in the signature Texas de Brazil style, featuring LeBlon Natural Cane Cachaça, lime and sugar. Each City Harvest Caipirinha sold will cover the delivery cost of 4 pounds of food to soup kitchens and food pantries throughout the city.
The dynamic menu at Texas de Brazil features an extensive selection of 16 meats, all prepared in the traditional Brazilian method – over an open flame – and carved tableside by the restaurant's authentically costumed Brazilian cowboys, or "Gauchos." Texas de Brazil is the only Churrascaria in NYC to cook its meats over charcoal, rather than gas. This traditional cooking method enhances and elevates flavor. Accompaniments ranging from Brazilian Cheese Bread to Sweet-fried Bananas are the perfect complement. Among the meat selections are:
- Filet Mignon
- Chicken Breast Wrapped in Bacon
- Rack of Lamb
- House Specialty Picanha (Top Sirloin)
Texas de Brazil's fresh gourmet salad area features more than 50 items, namely, among others:
- Brazilian Black Beans with Pork
- Imported Cheese
- Marinated Portobello Mushrooms
- Hearts of Palm
- Tangy Tabbouleh
- Special House-Made Lobster Bisque
Guests can conclude their dining experience with one of Texas de Brazil's many dessert selections and relax with an after-dinner drink or a steaming Espresso. The restaurant's award-winning wine and cocktail lists are created with an emphasis on South American varietals, rare wines and signature cocktails. The new 12,000 square foot restaurant features 2 levels and includes private rooms, along with a towering glass wine cellar spanning both floors.
