Texas Center for Legal Ethics Booth a Hot Spot at State Bar Convention
AUSTIN, Texas, June 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The booth sponsored by the Texas Center for Legal Ethics (TCLE) is guaranteed to be a popular spot at next week's State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in Houston.
In addition to offering convenient, early-morning continuing legal education programs for lawyers, TCLE will be hosting book signings with two of the state's leading attorney authors.
TCLE will kick off the two-day event with continuing legal education programs at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston. From 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. on June 14, TCLE will present simultaneous 1-hour ethics courses covering three interesting topics.
In "Legal Ethics and Professionalism in the Information Age," a panel of experts will examine how electronic communications are impacting ethics for today's lawyers. "Identifying and Avoiding Conflicts of Interest" will cover how attorneys can handle and avoid one of the most common ethics problems, and "Attorney Impairment: What It Is and Why You Should Care" will include a presentation from the Texas Lawyers' Assistance Program.
On June 14 at 1:30 p.m., Austin attorney William J. "Bill" Chriss will be at the TCLE booth to sign copies of his new book "The Noble Lawyer," a compelling examination of public misconceptions about lawyers and the legal profession as told through the lens of popular culture. Mr. Chriss, who served as TCLE's executive director from 2007-2009, is Of Counsel at Austin's Gravely & Pearson, L.L.P.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m. on June 15, Dallas attorney Talmage Boston will be signing his book "Raising the Bar," which focuses on the real-life and fictional iconic figures who have brought integrity and honor to the legal profession. Mr. Boston is a Shareholder in the Dallas office of Winstead PC.
"The State Bar Annual Meeting is a great opportunity for lawyers to learn more about the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and meet with our staff to talk about the important ethics issues that they deal with in their practices every day," says TCLE Executive Director Jonathan Smaby. "Our goal is to be a trusted resource for every practicing lawyer in Texas."
