Texas Back Institute Performs the First US Surgery with the FLXfit™ 3D Expandable Interbody Cage

Expanding Orthopedics Inc. (EOI), a privately held medical device company focused on developing and commercializing innovative expandable devices for spine surgery, is excited to announce that the first US surgery with the FLXfit™, world's only 3D expandable interbody cage, has been successfully performed by Dr. John Peloza at the Texas Back Institute in Dallas.

Dr. John Peloza, an internationally-recognized orthopedic spine surgeon, said: "This surgery is a dramatic evolution of minimally invasive, spinal fusion procedure." He explained that: "Most of the implants used from the posterior approach have significant limitations; they can't cover enough of the disc space for good vertebral support and they lack an expansion mechanism enabling lordosis angle correction." Dr. Peloza added: "The FLXfit™, thanks to its articulated design, can be steered to the right position where we want it, covering a large area. In addition, it expands in the front of the disc space and restores the natural lordosis angle."
