AUSTIN, March 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Texas Association of REALTORS® today announced its decision to endorse Barry Smitherman in his campaign for Railroad Commissioner. In making the announcement, Texas Association of REALTORS® Chairman Joe Stewart commended Smitherman's commitment to the interests of Texas property owners.

Smitherman was appointed to the Texas Railroad Commission in July 2011 and elected chairman Feb. 28, 2012. He must seek re-election on the statewide ballot in November.
