SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Armoring Corporation (TAC) recently released an extreme product testing video where TAC CEO Trent Kimball sat in one of the company's brand new armored Mercedes-Benz SUVs and let the company's resident sharpshooter, Lawrence Kosub, shoot at him twelve times with an AK-47 rifle. TAC EVP/COO Jason Forston announced today that that the video, entitled "This Is What It's Like To Be Shot At With an AK-47 in a Mercedes-Benz!," hit viral status in less than 24 hours and has since received over 3.5 million views on YouTube and over 8.5 million views on Facebook in less than a week. Forston added, "The video is truly viral in that it has spread exponentially through social media in just a few short days. We estimate total views for the video to be between 20-25 million, across numerous online platforms with far greater exposure if you were to factor in the multiple local and national television pickups."
Forston, the video's frontman and creator, continued "We have enjoyed unprecedented interest in the video from news agencies, blogs, and celebrities—Tyrese Gibson posted the video to his Facebook page, and it has since received well over 5 million views and counting." Forston joked, "I guess people just love the idea of shooting at your boss with an AK-47, even if he is sitting in a fully armored Mercedes-Benz SUV."
The video, in which TAC CEO Trent Kimball amazingly doesn't even flinch whilst bullets land inches from his face, has been met with some skepticism from online viewers who allege that TAC actually put a mannequin in the vehicle as opposed to their CEO. Kimball commented, "When I got into the vehicle I was calm and very, very focused. And of course, I was trying not to flinch. In hindsight, however, I probably should've moved a little bit more." The company has since released a video showing a continuous view of the test from the interior view to appease critics and show without a doubt that the video is completely authentic.
Texas Armoring's viral video has been featured on hundreds of major foreign and domestic news and industry websites such as Jalopnik, Motor Authority, AutoBlog, Autoweek, CarBuzz, FOX News, FOX Sports, The Daily Beast, The Blaze, Guns.com, The Huffington Post, The Firearm Blog, MySA.com, The Daily Mail, The Mirror, Yahoo! News, AOL Autos, and numerous ABC, CBS, and NBC affiliate sites. In addition, the video has aired numerous times on nationally syndicated news networks, and has been covered by Austin's KTBC Fox 7, San Antonio's KSAT12 ABC and KENS5 CBS in addition to national coverage by FOX News Channel's FOX & Friends and CBS' Inside Edition.
