Texas Alliance of Energy Producers Elects Vice Chairman, President; Re-Elects Board Secretary
FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers today elected two seasoned veterans to lead the organization, and reelected another.
Jim Beck, President of Tiger Eye Resources LLC in Houston, was elected Vice Chairman, and John Tintera, Alliance Executive Vice President, was elected President. Alliance Vice President Jo Ann Baker was reelected as Board Secretary.
"The Texas Alliance is very fortunate to have three experienced professionals to come forward to lead this great organization at this critical time," Robert W. Osborne, chairman of the board, said. "The industry has been through a very rough period, but we've had stability for about a year now, and conditions are looking much better."
Beck, who has an extensive career in the oil and gas industry, will become Chairman of the Board in April when Osborne's two-year term ends.
Tintera succeeds former President Alex Mills, who is retiring. Tintera will become chief of staff, and will be responsible for the daily operation of the largest statewide oil and gas association representing independents.
Baker is a veteran Alliance employee whose responsibilities and successes include Newsline, Annual Meeting, and managing the affairs of the Texas Alliance PAC. She has worked for the Alliance since 1991, and is its longest tenured employee.
Beck's oil field career began with 11 years at Schlumberger in the U.S., Central and South America. During that time, he helped develop Schlumberger's Fracture Identification Log. He subsequently served as Vice President of Roberts Oil and Gas, a small public company operating mainly in the Rockies and Oklahoma. He was a petrophysicist and chief geologist for ANR Production Co., with operations mainly in Texas and the Gulf of Mexico, and Transco Exploration. Beck was President of Seneca Resource Corp. for 10 years.
Beck also chaired the Alliance's public education efforts as Chairman of the Foundation for Energy Education, and has served on the Alliance's Board of Directors. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Houston Geologic Society (where he served on the board), and the Independent Petroleum Association of America, where he also served on the board, and the Domestic Petroleum Council.
He earned a BS degree in geology with minors in math and physics from Iowa State University, and was a registered Professional Geologist in Texas. He has been married to Denise for 52 years, and has 2 sons.
Tintera, who served as Executive Vice President of the Alliance, has extensive knowledge of the regulatory process, having previously served as Executive Director of the Texas Railroad Commission. During his 22 years at the RRC, Tintera was involved in every aspect of the Texas oil and gas regulatory process.
As Executive Vice President, he was in charge of the Alliance's government relations operation on state and federal issues. Tintera is based in Austin. The other Alliance offices in Houston and Wichita Falls will be under his direction as well.
He earned BS and MS degrees in geology from Michigan State University, and spent 11 years as an industry petroleum geologist prior to his position at the RRC. He and his wife Jenna live in Austin and have five children.
