The BlackBerry application company will donate a portion of its revenues for one week to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region
HALIFAX, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ - For a week in October, Tether will help in the fight against breast cancer.
Tether, the Nova Scotia company that provides customers with dependable Internet access through their smartphone data plan anywhere there is cellular coverage, announced today that it will donate a portion of its sales for the week of October 22 to 28 to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region.
To highlight Tether's commitment to a future without breast cancer, the company's website, www.tether.com, will be transformed to pink rather than its customary blue for the entire week.
"This is a unique campaign that we hope will catch on,'' said Tim Burke, CEO. "It's the first time to our knowledge that a company has organized a charitable campaign from the online sale of mobile applications.''
Halifax-based Tether has identified the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation as one of its charities of choice, and this will be its second year contributing to this cause.
"We're proud to be able to give back to our local community by supporting the Atlantic Region of CBCF," said Patrick Hankinson, Tether's Chief Marketing Officer.
Tether was launched in March, 2009, as a means of allowing people fast, affordable Internet access almost anywhere by letting them work on their laptops via their smartphone data plan. Within days, the product was selling around the world, drawing praise from such tech blogs as the New York Times, Entrepreneur and CrackBerry.
Tether's applications can be downloaded at www.tether.com.
