TestAll.com™ Partners With Mold Expert David Sherwood To Offer Training Programs For Home Inspectors Nationwide
ST. LOUIS, Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TestAll.com, a new company offering affordable testing for mold and other airborne impurities as well as recommendations on ways to treat problems that might exist, is partnering with nationally-recognized mold expert David Sherwood to provide mold certification training for members of its TestAll.com Home Inspector Network.
The world-class training modules are licensed through the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), making participants IAC2 Certified and eligible to earn InterNACHI credits upon completion of the course.
In addition, the training sessions will count toward American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) credits and much of the training will be personally conducted by Sherwood, who holds mold inspection training sessions for ASHI, the EPA, ITA, Kaplan education and Casey O'Malley.
"Many, if not most, home inspectors currently don't test for mold," said TestAll.com Managing Director Blake Cundiff, pointing out that a growing awareness of the health related issues linked to mold makes it more important than ever for home inspectors to be introduced to the latest techniques in testing. "With Dave's expertise and training, becoming certified is no longer a time consuming and costly process that takes away from an inspector's other business."
Sherwood began performing home inspections in 1982, when he developed a procedure that is now used industry-wide. Since then he has inspected over 15,000 homes and buildings while also conducting training classes across the nation. He also has been a trainer for the EPA in its radon program since 1989 and has been an expert witness in mold cases and investigations in both Massachusetts and Connecticut for the past decade.
"This is the only training program that looks at the water intrusion aspect and building sciences issues that caused the mold to be present to begin with, along with ways to address those issues so that once the mold is removed the chances of it occurring again are greatly reduced," said Cundiff. "Home inspection professionals are key to conducting the testing and evaluation, and David teaches a unique procedure that helps them guide the property owner in a way that is clear and understandable, from the beginning evaluation to completion of mold cleaning or remediation, based on EPA guidelines."
Sherwood acknowledged that inspectors have been reluctant to test because of the potential cost to the homeowner, the inconvenience of writing reports and the liability involved in interpreting them.
"That is all in the past," Sherwood said. "No longer does the home inspection professional face the inconvenience and the liability of being asked to interpret results onsite and throughout the entire process. We've also eliminated time-consuming report writing. Instead, results are provided by an independent third party to homeowners in a user-friendly, easy to understand format that will include recommendations for mold remediation if there is an issue."
