Teseq Develops CDNE Coupling/Decoupling Network for Emission Testing
New network exceeds latest EN 55015 requirements
EDISON, N.J., Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Teseq Inc., a leading developer and provider of instrumentation and systems for EMC emission and immunity testing, has developed a new CDNE coupling/decoupling network for emissions testing of electrical lighting equipment. This new network, available in the M210 model or M310 model, enables testing in the 30 MHz – 300 MHz radiated emissions range to be performed more quickly and easily using a CDN.

Based on CISPR 15 A1 Ed7, EN 55015 defines the conditions and methods for measuring radio disturbance characteristics in electrical lighting equipment. This new method, defined in Annex B, allows the use of a coupling/decoupling network (CDN), as defined in IEC 61000-4-6, for emission measurement in the radiated frequency range of 30 MHz to 300 MHz. Measurements in this frequency range are typically performed in an anechoic chamber with vertical and horizontal polarization with height and turntable scanning requiring considerable test time. Now testing in this range can be performed in a quicker, more straightforward manner on a conducted emissions test bench.
Both the M210 and M310 feature voltages up to 250 V and a maximum current of 10 A.
Each has an insertion loss of >0.1dB and a decoupling of CM disturbance of >30dB.
These tighter impedance tolerances, including asymmetrical impedance, phase angle, symmetrical impedance and internal attenuation, were defined by an industry working group formed to analyze test results from existing CDNs in order to improve CDN design as well as to transfer new emissions measuring equipment requirements to CISPR 16-1-2 and methods to CISPR 16-2-1.
