Terso Solutions Launches New RFID-Enabled Ultra Low Temperature (ULT) Freezer
New ULT "smart" freezer uses RFID technology to lower maintenance costs and protect high value products for life science manufacturers, biorepositories, tissue banks, and biobanking facilities.
MADISON, Wis., Nov. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Terso Solutions, Inc. has expanded its line of RFID-enabled enclosures with the addition of an RFID-enabled Ultra Low Temperature (ULT) freezer that is well-suited for research labs, healthcare providers, manufacturers and distributors, and forensic facilities. The new freezer makes better use of freezer space, reduces manual processes, lowers maintenance costs, and protects high value products such as tissue, biosamples, genetic material, and reagents.
"The success of our -20 degrees C RFID-enabled freezer led our customers to request a solution for managing their biosample and tissue inventory, which needs to be stored between -50 degrees C and -86 degrees C," said Joe Pleshek, chief executive officer at Terso Solutions. "Our integrated RFID solution can reduce the time spent opening doors to search for product, and eliminate manual inventory cycle counts. The new ULT freezer not only eliminates manual processes, but ensures that all items stored inside are fresh and free of degradation due to age, temperature, or improper storage."
The new freezer has 14.9 cubic feet of storage space and can store products down to -86 degrees C. RFID technology enables the freezer to capture inventory transactions at the item level by user, leading to greater accountability. In addition, the new freezer monitors temperature and expiration dates, and can also trigger alarms when freezer doors are left open.
Using secure access, each inventory transaction is automatically captured and processed — in real-time. And best of all, the data can be analyzed to track product usage, improve workflows, and make better business decisions.
Terso has deployed close to 1000 RFID-enabled cabinets, freezers and refrigerators around the world. All of Terso's products are certified by the Federal Communications Commission for EMC emissions and have received CE, C-Tick and UL certifications.
