Teradata's Reema Poddar Tapped to Lead New Product and Technology Division

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the industry's only pervasive data intelligence company, today appointed Reema Poddar as Executive Vice President of Product and Technology. As the head of this newly formed organization, Poddar will be directing Teradata product roadmaps and execution, as well as ensuring Teradata's offerings deliver on its promise to help customers find answers to their toughest analytic challenges.

Poddar joined Teradata in 2017 and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Product Development. In that role, she led a team of 1,400 and contributed to the overall strategic direction of the company from a product, financial, business and operational perspective – including managing all aspects of engineering and engineering operations, as well as overseeing the company's software and hardware development teams. In her new position, Poddar will oversee product development, strategic offering management and corporate security functions.

Poddar is a seasoned technology executive with more than 23 years of experience in the software industry across multiple vertical sectors. She is a thought leader with a track record of delivering digital transformation and innovation with expertise in areas such as the industrial internet of things (IIoT), big data analytics and cloud computing. Poddar led the recent general availability of Teradata Vantage, the platform for pervasive data intelligence. This flagship product delivers real-time, intelligent answers using all of a company's data.

Poddar has held numerous executive positions, including key executive positions at GE, where she was instrumental in setting the organization's digitalization strategy while leading the software technology division for their Saas offering. She has also served in senior leadership roles focused on transforming industrial software businesses at Emerson Electrics, Intellution Inc. and Satyam Computers.

Poddar's passion and influence are also evident in her commitment to diversity. She has supported and led various diversity initiatives, including "Women in STEM," "Girls who code" and "GE Girls," encouraging young women to consider technology and product management roles. She was also instrumental in a program to hire 20,000 female technologists by 2020. At Teradata, Poddar has continued her drive for diversity and is the executive sponsor and support for the Teradata women network and TeraBytes group. She is also an active Corporate Executive board member for Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. Based on these efforts and her leadership, Poddar recently received the San Diego Business Impact Leadership Award from the North San Diego Business Chamber and was featured on the cover of the September issue of San Diego Magazine. 

Poddar has master's degrees in computer science and electronics.
