ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata Corp. (NYSE: TDC), the big data analytics and marketing applications company today announced highlights of the upcoming Teradata 2015 PARTNERS Conference and Expo set for October 18-22 at the Anaheim Convention Center. More than 200 sessions will feature global Teradata customers across industries who will share trendsetting practices in big data analytics, marketing applications, data science and the Internet of Things. Those who attend will meet and network with thought leaders and practitioners whose leadership is shaping the future of data-driven business.
"The global convergence of IT and business executives, data scientists, analysts, fans and followers in the city where visionary Walt Disney built his original theme park enhances the 'magical' dimension the conference is known for," said Lennie Colborne, President of the 2015 PARTNERS Steering Committee and Manager of Enterprise Data Integration for McCain Foods Limited. "Attendees should prepare to be inspired by the many innovators at the global category-leading conference, a cross-industry community of data-driven visionaries."
Colborne will open the event with remarks in the general session on Monday. The conference, organized by customers for customers, is now celebrating its 30th year.
At this year's conference, Teradata will be introducing new capabilities that accelerate valuable business insights hidden in sensor data and the Internet of Things. Six sessions at the event address sensors and the Internet of Things, a space where researchers at IDC project spending will reach $1.7 trillion by 2020 1.
The conference theme, Breaking Big, represents a movement away – a break – from the conventional mindset as the growing impact and transformative power of big data moves us toward new opportunities. To demonstrate the new realities, customer sessions will be led by data innovators across the world, including Sirius XM Radio, American Eagle Outfitters, Rakuten, Saudi Telecom, Westpac Banking, Resona Bank, BCBS Tennessee, and more of the leaders in retail, telecommunications, finance, healthcare, pharma, utilities and manufacturing.
On Monday morning, Mike Koehler, chief executive officer of Teradata Corporation, will welcome delegates, followed by keynotes from Hermann Wimmer and Bob Fair, Teradata Co-Presidents.
The featured Monday keynote speaker is Robert Herjavec, who shares his expertise with other entrepreneurs as a leading "Shark" on ABC's Emmy Award-winning hit, Shark Tank. Herjavec has built and sold several IT companies. His organization, the Herjavec Group, is one of the fastest-growing technology companies in America. In his keynote address Robert Herjavec will explore evolving technology trends and the rising cybersecurity threats we face personally and professionally. He will reveal a few secrets from inside the Shark Tank and inspire anyone willing to keep up in a fast-moving world.
Wednesday's keynote speaker is Mike Rowe, a TV host, writer, narrator, producer and actor. He's written extensively about the country's relationship with work, and in his show, "Somebody's Gotta Do It," Rowe introduces viewers to workers who march to the beat of a different drum and perform unique jobs.
Teradata is offering a Virtual Conference package, which extends the event to a broader global audience using digital and 3D technology for social interaction. Also this year, Teradata will host a 24-hour DataKind DataDive. The organizers are inviting socially conscious analysts, statisticians, data scientists, coders, and designers to join the activities on Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th. Notably, the PARTNERS conference is also a destination for the Business Analytics Competition and the Data Challenge on October 18 and October 19. Contestants will share the results of their research in the exhibit hall.
The event is expected to attract up to 6,000 participants from companies in every industry and 65 countries worldwide. A wide array of exhibits from Teradata and its partners will include those from diamond and platinum event sponsors SAS, Microstrategy, Cloudera, Hortonworks, Qlik, Protegrity, Wherescape, IBM, NetApp, and Tibco-Analytics.
