WASHINGTON, May 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tennis great Billie Jean King, winner of 39 Grand Slam singles, doubles and mixed doubles tennis titles, including a record 20 titles at Wimbledon, will announce the U.S. Tennis Association's "10 and Under Tennis Initiative" at a National Press Club Speakers Luncheon on May 9.

Ms. King will discuss the USTA's comprehensive efforts to get more kids to participate in tennis and embrace a healthy and active lifestyle. King and USTA representatives will meet with lawmakers to discuss the association's educational and youth development activities.
For decades, King has championed new inroads for men and women and boys and girls of all ages and socio-economic groups to participate in sports. She was instrumental in the elevation of women's professional tennis and the formation of the Virginia Slims Tour.
President Obama awarded King the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor on Aug. 12, 2009.
