Tenant Turner Announces First $1,000 Open Doors Award

RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "He and his son had been living in a motel for years–just a step above living in his car or on the streets. In that time, he slept on a couch or on the floor, giving the only bed to his son."

This is the story of one tenant's struggle sent to Tenant Turner's Open Doors initiative by PMI Silicon Valley, a member of the Property Management Incorporated franchise. In October of this year, Tenant Turner announced its Open Doors initiative with the goal of awarding $1,000 towards the rent of a deserving tenant who is facing financial or other challenges while helping property managers better the communities they serve.

"We felt led to do more with the opportunities before us," reflects Brandon Anderson, one of Tenant Turner's founders. "In the property management business, you get to know the people who call your properties home. You meet their families and you hear their stories. When those families are presented with challenges and hardships, it's a tough spot for all involved. Tenant Turner selected PMI Silicon Valley's nomination. The tenant (whose name is withheld for privacy) is surprised and thankful to be selected: "It's nice to know that there's some good in the world." The money will help give peace of mind to the father and son through the holiday season. "It's just a great, wonderful surprise." The $1,000 is enough to cover the entirety of his December rent plus a portion of January's rent.
