Ten Years After: Bipartisan Policy Center to Issue Report Card on Status of 9/11 Commission Recommendations
9/11 Commission Co-Chairs Governor Tom Kean and Congressman Lee Hamilton along with other 9/11 Commissioners to discuss the report card and the state of our national security
WASHINGTON, Aug. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) will release a report card detailing the status of the unfinished 9/11 Commission recommendations and discuss the success of the Commission with Commission Chair Tom Kean and Vice Chair Lee Hamilton this Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 10:00AM in Washington, D.C.
Governor Tom Kean and Congressman Lee Hamilton, now co-chairs of BPC's National Security Preparedness Group, will be joined by other members of the 9/11 Commission for this panel discussion, in advance of the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Confirmed Commissioners appearing on the panel include: Fred Fielding, former White House Counsel in the Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations; Slade Gorton, former Senator from Washington State; John Lehman, Secretary of the Navy in the Ronald Reagan administration; Tim Roemer, former Ambassador to India and Indiana Congressman; and former Illinois Governor James Thompson.
The report card will describe the unfulfilled 9/11 Commission recommendations and the corresponding impact on the country's national security. Governor Kean and Congressman Hamilton will make remarks about the unfinished recommendations and then join the panel discussion with the other 9/11 Commissioners. The panel discussion will be moderated by ABC News White House Correspondent Ann Compton.
Governor Kean and Congressman Hamilton, as well as all the 9/11 Commissioners, will take questions from the audience and be available for interviews following the event.
