$100,000
contract at the final of its Live the Dream event in
Vienna, Austria
. The players, most of whom learned to play poker or honed their skills with Everest and are active members of the Everest Poker community, competed against two-hundred other hopefuls in one of the most coveted poker events of the year to win a one-year sponsorship contract with the poker room.
Over 50,000 players participated in the Live the Dream online qualifications from September to
December 2009
with two-hundred making the cut to take part in the final live event at the prestigious Palais Auersperg on
January 9th
and 10th. The second edition of Everest Poker's flagship promotion was hailed a success by players, press and poker professionals alike as participants were judged through a series of tests evaluating their live and online poker skill level and brand ambassador qualities.
Throughout October and
November 2009
, qualified players were invited to complete their profiles on a specially designed social media platform http://www.everestpoker.com/livethedream allowing them to be judged on their blogging skills. At the final event, a judging panel comprising of players, press and poker professionals worked through a transparent scoring process to assess each player's qualities. Points were awarded for online poker skills, live poker ability, ambassador quality and a newly added criterion of popular voting. Players had access to the Live the Dream scoring breakdown throughout the two-day final event.
