Tempur-Pedic® Donates 500th Bed to Ronald McDonald House Charities®
Milestone celebrated with Albuquerque plant employees
LEXINGTON, Ky., May 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tempur-Pedic International Inc. (NYSE: TPX), the leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of premium mattresses and pillows worldwide, celebrated the donation of its 500th bed to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC®) yesterday with the delivery of 63 beds to the Ronald McDonald House in Albuquerque, N.M.
"Our mission at Tempur-Pedic is to help people get their best possible night's sleep," Mark Sarvary, CEO of Tempur-Pedic International, said. "This alliance has been especially rewarding because it has allowed us to do just that for Ronald McDonald House families and caregivers at a time when they need a quality night's sleep more than ever."
The occasion was marked with a special event at the Ronald McDonald House of Albuquerque, where Tempur-Pedic, RMHC representatives and friends of Ronald McDonald House Charities gathered. U.S. Navy reservists stationed in the area carried and assembled the bed frames, foundations and mattresses, which were accompanied by My Tempur-Pedic Teddy Bears® and hand-written notes to families staying at the House, from employees of Tempur-Pedic's nearby Albuquerque plant, the company's largest manufacturing facility.
"Our goal at Ronald McDonald Houses is to allow families to stay together, comfortable and cared for, so that they can in turn focus on providing comfort and care for their ill or injured children," Marty Coyne, president and CEO, Ronald McDonald House Charities, added. "Today, thanks to Tempur-Pedic, our Albuquerque families can enjoy a good night's sleep after a home-cooked meal and a special visit from Ronald McDonald himself."
Tempur-Pedic began outfitting four U.S. Ronald McDonald Houses with beds in 2009. By the end of 2010, more than 32,000 families will have enjoyed the superior sleep experience Tempur-Pedic products provide. By the end of the year, 30 to 40 Houses will have received Tempur-Pedic beds, and, by the end of 2013, the plan is for all participating U.S. Houses to have Tempur-Pedic beds.
