Temporary Chalk Masterpieces Create Open-Air Art Gallery at SCAD 2014 Sidewalk Arts Festival
Category to celebrate university's 35th anniversary to feature 3-D chalk art
SAVANNAH, Ga., April 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Savannah College of Art and Design will host its 33rd annual Sidewalk Arts Festival this Saturday, April 26, in Forsyth Park (Drayton St., Savannah) from 11 am to 5 pm. More than 500 SCAD students, alumni and prospective students will produce a spectrum of chalk artwork inspired by distinct styles, backgrounds, and cultures while competing for prizes.

The free event will welcome thousands of visitors to view the temporary chalk masterpieces created on the walkways of the historic park. Attendees to this year's festival are again encouraged to share the event's display of imagination and creativity through Instagram using #scadchalk.
Artists will be recognized in the following categories: Best in Show, SCAD 35th Anniversary Award (must be a 3-D artwork), Graduate Student Award, Gray's Reef Award and Drawing Minor Award. First, Second and Third Place recognition will be bestowed for the Student Award (both group and individual), Alumni and High School competitions.
