PHOENIX, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- To support its rapid national growth, Telesphere, the leader in cloud-based Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), is in the midst of an aggressive, multi-year expansion of its private, all-IP network aimed at strengthening its ability to serve large enterprise customers throughout the United States and Canada.

The company is investing significantly in its national network to add sophisticated network points of presence (POPs) to key regions of the U.S. and connect them with high-capacity-bandwidth facilities. The company is expanding all dimensions of its network to enable the industry's best scalability, performance and availability of its services, further positioning Telesphere to win the business of multi-location enterprise accounts, including those with employees working in home offices and on the go with smartphones, tablets or laptops.
The network expansion further enhances Telesphere's market position as the nation's largest pure-play provider of a rich array of advanced, all-IP business communications solutions in a hosted, or service-in-a-cloud, environment. The company's proprietary back-office systems and on-demand online portals provide businesses with unparalleled privacy, security and control of their customized communications services.
The expansion includes adding or upgrading network POPs in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore., to augment its extensive nationwide network. Suppliers include Cisco Systems and ADTRAN Inc. The POPs are connected with high-bandwidth backhaul connections and form a robust, secure and highly available IP MPLS backbone network.
The POPs house routing and switching equipment, connectivity to the Internet and PSTN, and key service components, including Hosted PBX Application Servers, Session Border Controllers and others. Customer locations are connected to the POPs using a variety of access technologies, including Ethernet over fiber, Ethernet over copper, DS3, NxT1, DSL, cable and other mediums.
Telesphere specializes in providing leading-edge, cloud-based Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) that for many companies are a far more cost-effective alternative to the services and systems they traditionally have purchased from telephone companies, equipment vendors or ISPs.
"Clearly, our strength and our chief selling point is our ability to provide unparalleled Unified Cloud Communications solutions over a national network, with its breadth and capabilities, supported by our own proprietary back-office system that has been designed specifically to serve the Cloud Communications industry," said Telesphere CEO Clark Peterson. "By the end of this year, we will have 13 POPs situated in all regions of the country, offering more capacity than any other pure play provider of all-IP, cloud-based business communications services.
"We have invested millions of dollars in our network and we continue to invest to ensure superior service to our customers and to attract larger enterprise accounts," he said. "We believe our privately managed 'cloud' network and our proprietary back-office system differentiate us from traditional carriers in providing managed voice, data and UC services wherever and whenever needed, with end-to-end quality of service.
"We are seeing national trends across all lines of business that demonstrate a growing preference for web collaboration, backed up with HD voice and video-over-IP, coupled with lower spending on premises-based PBX systems and declining carrier revenue for PSTN connections -- all pointing to a desire among customers for exactly the kind of services-in-a-cloud environment that is Telesphere's strong suit," Peterson added.
"Because of the complexity entailed in building, managing and maintaining their own systems in-house or in private clouds, more and more companies are choosing to rely on Telesphere because our Unified Communications services are very attractive from the perspective of initial capital expense and ongoing operating expense."
Unified Communications from Telesphere offer a business communications experience far richer than voice alone by integrating a wide range of real-time communication services such as hosted VoIP, SMS, instant messaging, presence, video conferencing, Web collaboration and data sharing – including electronic whiteboards – with non-real-time services such as voicemail, email, and fax. Telesphere also offers fully-managed and hosted advanced call center capabilities.
Telesphere has longstanding technology partnerships with Broadsoft and Polycom, and enjoys strong distribution and account-servicing agreements with several leading resellers of networking services. The company is recruiting qualified candidates for networking, sales and operations positions in several areas of the country to support its growth objectives.
Inc. Magazine's 2011 list of America's fastest-growing companies ranked Telesphere first among large providers of cloud communications services and No. 965 overall.
