TELES Communications Corp. and Personal Communications Devices forge agreement to provide cellular gateway products in North America
CELLX4 devices provide disaster recovery capabilities for small- and medium-sized businesses, reduce telecom costs, and extend mobility
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Two leaders in the telecom industry have joined forces to offer the disaster-recovery CELLX4 cellular gateway devices for Next Generation Networks (NGN) that extend mobility and provide cost-savings to small- and medium-sized businesses in North America.
The CELLX4 cellular gateway devices are products of TELES Communications Corp., which established a strategic distribution agreement with PCD and Sprint. CELLX4 is certified for use on the Sprint Network, and Personal Communications Devices (PCD) is the official distributor of CELLX4 for Sprint and its Vision Network customers on the Migration portal, www.m2mwirelessdevices.com. In addition to distribution services, PCD provides marketing and sales support, including an informational video planned for its portal website.
CELLX4 cellular gateway devices work with all types of phone equipment to convert calls from fixed networks into mobile-to-mobile calls, providing temporary voice service where no landline exists yet, such as construction sites, and reducing costs for wireless minutes. For entities with field-based and fleet employees, CELLX4 provides one phone number access from the central PBX to employees' cell numbers.
In addition, CELLX4 provides valuable wireless backup for both outbound and inbound calls in the event of landline outages.
Through CELLX4, entities that secure prior authorization have access to the nationwide Wireless Priority Service during local or national disasters or emergencies.
"This gateway technology benefits small and medium-size organizations by protecting their investment in existing infrastructure, by ensuring their access to communications and by significantly reducing their telecom costs," said Oliver Olbrich, president of TELES Communications Corp. "We are excited about providing this innovative service throughout North America," said Olbrich. "As we expand in the United States, our partners of choice are PCD, with its established distribution team, and Sprint, a leading U.S. carrier."
Effective March 15, 2013, CELLX4 is available through Sprint with two one-of-a-kind pricing plans in the United States: $34.99 per month for unlimited service and $9.99 per month for disaster (failover) service.
George Appling, president and chief executive officer of PCD, said, "This agreement reflects PCD's strong commitment to expanding our services and product portfolio into the rapidly emerging internet of things (IOT) space, and to helping Sprint achieve its objectives through alliances that serve Sprint's loyal customers. We're delighted that through TELES, PCD can provide Sprint with a state-of-the-art portfolio of multichannel cellular gateways."
