FARMINGDALE, N.Y., June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE: GFF), announced today that it has been awarded a contract from Oshkosh Defense, LLC for NetCom™ Vehicle Intercommunications Systems to be integrated onto the company's Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. The faster and more agile JLTV will replace a portion of the military's current fleet of up-armored HMMWVs. With the additional capabilities of NetCom, these vehicles will further enhance the situational awareness and safety of U.S. troops via clear and secure communications.
NetCom offers a complete crew intercommunications and radio management system providing operability for up to twenty users. With adaptive noise cancellation technology at each microphone input, NetCom enhances audio intelligibility while protecting user hearing. The system's low size, weight and power consumption greatly simplifies installation and integration onto the JLTV platform where these benefits for the troops are of critical importance.
"NetCom will provide the communications capabilities needed to further ensure the safety and success of our Armed Forces during their often dangerous and complex missions," said Mike Beltrani, Vice President and General Manager, Communications and Surveillance Systems, Telephonics. "NetCom has been field tested extensively in battle and its "system in a box" design will provide a distinct tactical, cost, integration and life-cycle advantage to the U.S. Army."
"Telephonics is proud to have been chosen as a member of this historic U.S. Army armored vehicle program," said Joseph J. Battaglia, President and Chief Executive Officer of Telephonics. "We look forward to a close partnership with Oshkosh Defense over the life of this program and to providing a modern, state-of-the-art solution to further safeguard and protect the men and women of our Armed Forces."
