LOS ANGELES, May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TelePacific Communications, the largest California-based CLEC providing integrated voice and data telecommunications services to the small and medium-sized business ("SMB") customer segment in California and Nevada, announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), a global, integrated media company, has named TelePacific's SmartVoice product as a recipient of the 2011 NGN Leadership Award presented by its publication, NGN Magazine.

TelePacific's SmartVoice portfolio uses Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for call control and mobility features and is offered as a dynamically integrated solution with Internet access and/or MPLS. The service enables customers to optimize their network access resources for voice or data traffic as needed. Voice traffic is prioritized over data traffic so calls come through clearly. As call paths are released, they dynamically convert to data bandwidth to speed data traffic through the customer's network.
The Third Annual NGN Leadership Award recognizes companies for applications and services that contribute to the evolution of next generation networks and the technologies that make them possible.
"SmartVoice is an example of one of the ways TelePacific is evolving with technology and making innovative telecommunication platforms accessible to small and medium-sized businesses," says Dick Jalkut, president and CEO of TelePacific. "We are pleased that SmartVoice has been recognized for advancing next generation networks and are proud to be developing communication tools that help our SMB customers be efficient and effective in their day-to-day business."
"SmartVoice has proven it is exceptional, and its innovation has contributed to the transformation of the industry," stated Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "Congratulations to the entire team at TelePacific and I look forward to more innovation in the coming year."
Available in business lines, PRI, CAS or native SIP handoff, SmartVoice customers can select up to 120 call paths with integrated Internet access and/or MPLS IP-VPN services. SmartVoice with Ethernet over Copper access is available in bandwidth increments from 1 Mbps to 20 Mbps, depending on distance from the serving wire center. In addition, using Ethernet over TDM transport, SmartVoice bandwidth can scale as high as 135 Mbps. The SmartVoice portfolio also includes up to 22 enhanced calling and data features, as well as local and intra-LATA calling, for one flat rate.
SmartVoice was also a recipient of the 2010 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award.
