TeleCommunication Systems' TCS OS-IRIS Managed Satellite Services Added to FCSA Contract Program

ANNAPOLIS, Md., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced that its TCS OS-IRIS offering has been added to the General Services Administration (GSA) and Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Future COMSATCOM Services Acquisition (FCSA) contract program, via TCS' GSA Schedule 70 contract. This enables Department of Defense agencies and all other federal agencies to purchase the world's first and only operating Internet Routing In Space (IRIS) managed satellite services through this new contract for commercial satellite communications.

Hosted on Intelsat 14, TCS OS-IRIS allows organizations to directly connect sites on multiple continents, eliminating latency inherent with double satellite hops and bypassing the otherwise-required connection to a commercial teleport. The TCS OS-IRIS solution enables voice, data and video traffic over a single IP network, increasing efficiency and flexibility. Organizations will benefit from increased bandwidth availability, optimization tools and application flexibility delivered by TCS through an end-to-end Cisco secure IP network.
