Telcordia Helps Service Providers Realize Their Potential at TM Forum Management World
Demonstrations and Collaborations Showcase Fiber and Wireless Broadband Support - and Turning OTT Threat into Opportunity
PISCATAWAY, N.J., May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Telcordia (Booth #64), a global leader in the development of IP, wireline, and mobile telecommunications software and services, will showcase how its solutions are enabling communications service providers (CSPs) to realize the potential of new market opportunities, technologies and business models during TM Forum Management World 2011 to be held May 23-26 in Dublin, Ireland.
Conference sessions and on-site demonstrations will show how CSPs can reduce costs, grow revenues and provide a differentiating customer experience using Telcordia solutions, with a particular focus on FTTx and mobile broadband networks and services. Industry collaborations involving Telcordia will showcase the use of standards to address two pressing CSP challenges: automating the fulfillment of GPON services in multivendor networks and turning the over-the-top (OTT) threat into revenue opportunities.
"Continuous innovation is the key to revenue growth and offering a strong customer experience, underpinned by the capability to scale and meet dramatic increase in demand," said Adan Pope, Chief Technology Officer, Telcordia. "Management World is a great opportunity to see first-hand the breadth and depth of understanding and support that Telcordia offers to forward-looking CSPs."
At Booth 64, visitors can see the potential realized by CSPs around the globe, supported by Telcordia's innovative solutions. Subject-matter experts will be on hand to demonstrate Automated Plan-to-Provision for Mass Market Broadband; support for 4G/LTE Wireless network rollout and operations; Mobile Broadband Service Management, and more.
Telcordia's support for fiber rollouts also features, on the main conference agenda, a presentation by Sheldon MacDonald, Director of Network Strategy, Capital Management and Security for Bell Aliant. Mr. MacDonald will share how Bell Aliant achieved a reduction in FTTH implementation costs amidst a major ramp-up of their fiber access network investment.
In a "Future of the Telecom Provider" session, Telcordia's Pat McCarthy, Vice President, Marketing for Service Delivery Solutions, will discuss how CSPs use real-time charging and policy to drive service innovation. Using the Indian telecom market as a backdrop, the presentation will explore how new service creation models can enable CSPs to achieve brand differentiation in hyper-competitive markets, including providers who have added tens of millions of subscribers within their first year of operations.
"To remain competitive, CSPs must be capable of offering customized plans and roll out new services in real time to meet the personalization needs of their subscribers," said Pat McCarthy. "This presentation will discuss how implementing an innovative service creation model can reduce time-to-market for new services and create a competitive advantage that will increase customer loyalty and generate revenue growth."
In addition, Telcordia will participate in two TM Forum "Catalyst" projects, created to showcase standards being applied to solve real-world problems. In the first, the GPON Activation Catalyst will showcase the industry's first practical application of an enhanced MTOSI (Multi-Technology Operations System Interface) interoperability standard, to automate fulfillment of GPON-based services. The project is championed by Oi and Deutsche Telekom with support from Telcordia, Huawei and Progress Software.
The second project, the Service Delivery Broker, shows how CSPs can unlock revenue potential by harnessing the innovation of third-party service, content and application developers. By offering access to the CSP's product catalog, policy, and charging control platforms, customers can be presented with alternate product offers, new service variations, and options in real time. The net result – pull-through and upsell for CSPs – turns the apparent threat from OTT services into a positive revenue generator. This project is the result of collaboration between Telcordia, Portugal Telecom, PT SAPO and Microsoft.
Both Catalyst projects will be on show at Forumville, at the center of the main expo hall.
