Telcordia Extends IBM Relationship for Next Generation OSS
Company's Award-Winning Fulfillment Products Available on IBM Hardware and Software Platforms; Pairs Trusted Technology Offerings to Reduce OPEX for Service Providers
PISCATAWAY, N.J., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Telcordia (www.telcordia.com) today announced plans to make Telcordia's next generation operations support system (OSS) solutions available on IBM hardware and software platforms. The move extends an existing global relationship that has seen the two companies collaborate on numerous telecom transformation, OSS and service delivery deployments for global operators during the past decade.
Under the new agreement, core components of Telcordia's Fulfillment Suite, including Telcordia® Granite Inventory, Assign & Design and Discovery & Reconciliation, will be offered on the IBM® AIX® operating system and certified with IBM® WebSphere®. Telcordia Fulfillment automates the entire Order-to-Service process for broadband, mobile and enterprise services, improving speed and efficiency in service planning; reducing service order fallout; and maximizing asset utilization and inventory data accuracy. The AIX operating system is designed to deliver outstanding scalability, reliability and manageability. In SOA (service-oriented architecture) environments, WebSphere enables dynamic, interconnected business processes and delivers highly effective application infrastructures.
The first Telcordia Fulfillment products running on IBM hardware and software will be available in the second quarter of 2010.
Commenting for Telcordia, Graeme Verroken, Vice President, Worldwide Alliances, said: "The development of our next generation OSS solutions on IBM technology is a direct response to service providers who have been asking for a compelling combination of technology, experience and service with Telcordia software on the IBM platform. The expansion of our relationship with IBM builds on a proven delivery capability, and gives service providers more options in their choice of supported computing platforms for Next Gen OSS."
"Our work with Telcordia has been very successful in deploying carrier-grade solutions in highly competitive growth markets where a premium is placed on delivering innovative services faster while providing a differentiated and superior customer experience," said Scott Stainken, general manager for IBM's Telecommunication Industry. "By adding next-generation OSS to our hardware and software, IBM will continue to drive operational excellence and true value with our service provider customers."
Telcordia Next Gen OSS solutions will be showcased in IBM Innovation Centers, providing an opportunity for service providers around the globe to see Telcordia's solutions running on IBM platforms.
