Telcordia Assists U.S. Intelligence Community's Response to National Security Concerns

PISCATAWAY, N.J., Jan. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Telcordia, a global leader in the development of mobile, broadband and enterprise software and services for communications service providers, suppliers and governments, has been commissioned as a prime contractor by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to develop information analysis technology for the Knowledge Discovery and Dissemination (KDD) program. The focus of the program is to conduct research and develop prototype systems that will enable intelligence analysts to effectively analyze data from multiple, large, disparate sources of information, and produce actionable intelligence to respond more quickly to national security concerns.

Facing a limited number of resources, it is becoming increasingly difficult for federal agencies to analyze information across different terminologies, formats, data models, and contexts from various sources of data sets. Through the use of innovative algorithms and tools for information discovery and its expertise in large scale data analytics, Telcordia will help analysts to find relevant information of critical importance. This will allow analysts to work more effectively by focusing on relevant and credible information, and provide analysis on potential threats in a more efficient and timely manner.

The program aims to make advances in two key areas: alignment of data models, and advanced analytic algorithms. The evaluation of prototype systems will take place at government facilities and will be applied to real intelligence challenge problems.
