Telcordia Addresses Challenges for 'Next Decade of Military Communications' at MILCOM
Demos Include Software Quality Assurance to Detect Malware Threats; Situational Awareness for Commercial Smartphones; Cognitive Network Design
PISCATAWAY, N.J., Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- For decades, Telcordia has focused on cyber security and critical infrastructure protection (CIP) to protect the vital interests of the U.S., and -- at this week's MILCOM (Military Communications Conference) in San Jose, Calif. -- the company will demonstrate advanced software and solutions that address the highly sensitive nature of today's military communications applications. Telcordia, a global leader in the development of mobile, broadband and enterprise communications software and services, will have their experts present breakthrough solutions for next-generation military, government and homeland security communications.
"Converged network management and issues surrounding mobility have made protecting our nation's core infrastructure assets extremely complex, and the complexities and related risks will continue to escalate," said Brent Greene, President, Advanced Technologies Solutions, Telcordia. "Having been instrumental in the development of the architecture of the U.S. communications infrastructure, Telcordia is uniquely qualified in areas of national security and emergency preparedness, and will be keenly focused on solutions that safeguard our military and government communications systems from attack."
As MILCOM 2010 explores the theme of the "Next Decade in Military Communications," Telcordia will showcase solutions that address cyber security today, and anticipate future information and communication challenges in data transformation, malicious code detection and protection, systems interoperability, and network operations.
Telcordia's demos will include:
- Malicious Code Detection Tool, a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) tool that detects malware threats from insiders, specifically life-cycle attacks that may be hidden inside an application by hostile developers and triggered at a later date
- Military Applications on Commercial Smartphones, a military situational awareness application that uses multicast network protocols on a commercial smartphone over wireless and WiFi networks
- A Cognitive Network Design (C-NEDAT) tool helps design mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) to meet performance goals for survivability, delay and network lifetimes; assess the performance of a design; and analyze performance of cognitive algorithms that help maintain network connectivity and robustness.
- Enabling communications interoperability to help strengthen security protocols is an overview of other situational awareness tools, including the Telcordia® Standards Knowledgebase, Telcordia® Common Language® Information Services, Telcordia General Requirements (GR) documentation, and the Telcordia GPS Services Pack.
