Launched today, Sentry ABR is a critical component of Tektronix comprehensive solution that enables video service providers (VSPs) to ensure the quality of their ABR-based TV Everywhere and over-the-top OTT services. Sentry ABR's role in this solution is to ensure that all of a VSPs TV Everywhere and OTT video assets are intact, stored properly and available for immediate streaming when requested by viewers. Sentry ABR does this by validating all assets, bitrate profiles and manifest files based on a highly parallel HTTP fragment fetching engine.
"For six years now the Diamond judges have honored members of our Sentry family of digital content monitors with exceptional scores, recognizing their critical role in enabling the delivery of error-free, high-quality video for a superior viewing experience," said Eben Jenkins, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "Our new Sentry ABR is the ideal quality assurance solution for cable operators and other VSPs as they expand their TV Everywhere deployments and dramatically grow the available content."
In its ninth year, the Diamond Technology Reviews (commonly known as "the Diamonds") recognizes top products and solutions throughout the cable industry. The panel of judges is composed of Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) national board members, experts in the cable engineering field and includes engineering executives from top U.S. cable operators.
This year's Diamond judges commended Sentry ABR for both its ease-of-use and ability to perform so many critical quality assurance (QA) functions related to ABR streaming media delivery. In particular, judges noted that Sentry ABR allows cable operators to monitor any part of the network, giving users the flexibility to monitor the quality immediately after programs have been packaged and ready for distribution, all the way to the edge of the content delivery network (CDN).
Tektronix is demonstrating Sentry ABR at its booth (529) at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, in Atlanta from October 22 through October 24.
