TEDxNASA Preparing for Live Event and Internet Broadcast
HAMPTON, Va., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- TEDxNASA is just one week away. More than 20 speakers are putting finishing touches on their "What Matters Next" presentations and technicians are readying the Ferguson Center in Newport News for the Nov. 4 event and Internet live stream.

TEDxNASA is an independent day-long experience, co-hosted by NASA Langley Research Center and the National Institute of Aerospace, both in Hampton, Va. It's modeled after the internationally known TED conferences that bring together visionaries in technology, entertainment and design.
This year's speakers include Maggie Stiefvater, whose book "Linger" debuted at number one on a New York Times best seller list this summer; Sean Forbes, a deaf rap musician; Josh Koppel, co-founder of a company that has designed thousands of "apps" for Apple products; Oliver Uberti, the design editor for "National Geographic" magazine; William A. Draves, a leading expert in lifelong learning; Phyllis Greenberger, the editor of the book, "The Savvy Woman Patient;" and Ben Rigby, who has devised a way to let people volunteer small amounts of time using their mobile phones.
Bobby Braun, Jim Green and Bruce Wielicki, NASA researchers who specialize in technology, planetary science and climate change, will also speak at TEDxNASA. A complete list of names and other information is available at our website:

TEDxNASA is being held Thursday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ferguson Center in Newport News. Doors open at 8 a.m. Registration for the free public event at the Ferguson is almost full, but presentations will be streamed live from a link on the tedxnasa.com site, where viewers will also be able to participate in an online chat. Videos of the individual talks will also be posted to the website after the event.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that allow people to share a TED-like experience. Every year the world's leading thinkers are invited to share what they are most passionate about at a national and international TED conference. To reach an even broader audience their talks are made available on the Internet at ted.com. The "x" in TEDxNASA indicates it is an independently organized TED event.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to "ideas worth spreading." Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson, and many others.
