TED Launches ideas.TED.com
Daily original content offers context and backstory to TED Talks
NEW YORK, May 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TED, the non-profit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, launches a new blog today, a daily editorial destination that expands on TED Talks by providing context and backstories to their ideas and offering fresh, thought-provoking ways of looking at ongoing challenges. The blog was created with support from Lexus, which shares TED's spirit of curiosity and continually searches for unexpected approaches that give rise to innovation. Since 2006, Lexus and TED have worked together to create programs that are a hub for creative thinking and idea generation.
Among the features on ideas.ted.com:
- A monthly Question Worth Asking package: Articles, interviews, image galleries, and discussions explore a single question, such as "What will blow our minds in the next 30 years?" "Should we redesign humans?" or "How do you solve a problem like the climate crisis?"
- A short daily explainer that sets that morning's new TED Talk in broader context.
- A three-pack of news headlines selected for TEDsters each day.
- Weekly articles that offer TED's take on current events and trends in science, the humanities, business, culture, in words and pictures.
- The best from our community: smart comments, quick reactions and essays from TEDsters around the world.
"Ideas are the lifeblood of TED," said TED's Ideas Editor, Helen Walters. "They are the focal point of every TED Talk, every conversation and discussion. They're also forever evolving, growing and adapting as the world around them changes. ideas.TED.com provides a smart, friendly space for discussion of issues worth discussing."
The launch comes from TED's online editorial team, also responsible for the TED blog. As part of the launch, the existing TED blog will refocus to cover stories about TED communities and initiatives, including news from TEDx, from the winners of the TED Prize, from the TED Fellows, TED-Ed, conference attendees, our Open Translation Project and more, plus stories about the impact TED has on people's lives.
The Ideas blog can be found online at ideas.ted.com.
