TechPrecision Corporation Completes Facility Expansion, Enhances Nuclear Manufacturing Capabilities
New Gantry Mill, Additional Capacity Augments Production Capabilities of N-Stamp Certified Products to Capture Greater Share of Nuclear "New Build" Manufacturing
CENTER VALLEY, Pa., Dec. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TechPrecision Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: TPCS) ("TechPrecision", or "the Company"), an industry leading manufacturer of precision, large-scale fabricated and machined metal components and systems with customers in the alternative energy, cleantech, medical, nuclear, defense, aerospace and other commercial industries, today announced that it has completed strategic enhancements to its Ranor facility in Westminster, Mass., better positioning TechPrecision and Ranor to capture a share of the large and growing opportunity for manufacturing and retrofitting of large-scale NPP Primary Loop Components, or large-scale assemblies, for nuclear power generators. These components typically generate revenue of $3 million to $8 million, per unit, for TechPrecision.
Enhancements include a 20,000 square foot expansion of the Ranor manufacturing facility and the installation and qualification of a new Gantry mill, which is now fully operational and has begun producing N-Stamp (nuclear) certified products.
TechPrecision is one of few remaining N-stamp ASME certified machining/fabrication companies in the U.S. The new Gantry mill has a footprint that allows it to cut metal 40 ft. x 16 ft. x 16 ft. with 0.001" accuracy, and enables TechPrecision to build Prime components. The Company expects to receive its first prime nuclear order early in calendar 2012.
"We have a strong pipeline of opportunities and the completion of the Ranor facility expansion and Gantry mill installation strategically positions us to better serve the nuclear industry, and also allows us to capture more of this business going forward," said Mr. James Molinaro, CEO of TechPrecision Corporation. "The need for a new generation of advanced-passive nuclear plants constructed on a global basis is huge, particularly in China where 26 new plants are under contract. In addition, six plants are being constructed in the United States as well as five in Europe, and contractors are seeking qualified and competent fabricators, like Ranor, to meet this growing demand. Our expanded capabilities and capacity allow us to be an active participant and partner in the supply chain for this market, helping to diversify our revenues and supporting our aggressive growth objectives for the coming year."
