Technology Provides Instant Access to Pay and Benefits for Majority of Employees
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly eighty-three percent of employees have instant access to their pay and benefits information, according to results from the 2018 "Getting Paid In America" survey conducted by the American Payroll Association (APA).
"These days, we all expect to be able to easily interact with consumer apps and get the information we need, when we need it," said Kosin Huang, director of product marketing, payroll, and workforce management at Workday. "Employees want to see exactly what changed in their earnings and deductions, compare periods, and simulate changes to see the effect on their take home pay."
Technologies such as employee self-service portals empower employees to view their payroll and human resource information virtually anywhere they have internet access. Self-service portals provide multiple options for users to view their pay statements, view their time and attendance, monitor time-off, and more.
"Employers want to provide this kind of technology to increase employee engagement and visibility, while also reducing the burden on payroll and HR," continued Huang.
The annual APA survey asked "Does your employer provide an employee self-service portal, where you can access your pay and benefits information online?" Nearly 83 percent of respondents indicated their employer provides an online employee self-service portal.
The "Getting Paid In America" survey was held in conjunction with the APA's annual public awareness campaign National Payroll Week, September 3-7. Over 34,000 individuals responded to the survey, providing insight into how employees are paid in America. For complete survey results, visit nationalpayrollweek.com.
