On May 19, 2014, CIENA Corp. (Ciena) announced that NORDUnet - an international collaboration between the Nordic national computer networks for research and education - is transforming its network to offer flexible, high-capacity and resilient network connections to the Nordic National Research and Education Networks (NREN) community. The Company stated that NORDUnet is deploying converged packet optical platforms and software from Ciena for programmable 100G Optical Transport Network (OTN) switching. Harris Corp. Analyst Notes
On May 7, 2014, Harris Corp. (Harris) announced that it has successfully completed the first of four antenna-feed upgrades that will provide performance improvements essential to process the new frequencies and increased volume of meteorological data, which will come from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite - R Series (GOES-R). Harris stated that the four 9.1-meter antennas undergoing the upgrade are located at NOAA's Satellite and Operations Facility in Suitland, Maryland. The Company informed that the first upgraded antenna has already been brought on line with the current GOES satellite system.
