TechNet New England Supports Administration's Green Button Initiative to Deliver Energy Savings for Americans

TechNet also applauds National Grid and others for participating in this pilot program to help Americans lower energy costs through technology

BOSTON, May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- TechNet, the bipartisan policy and political network of technology CEOs that promotes the growth of the innovation economy, today announced its support for the Green Button initiative, a new Obama Administration initiative to provide American consumers with innovative tools and information to help them better understand their energy use and lower costs. TechNet applauds National Grid, the second utility in New England to participate in the Green Button program.

Launched in January, the Green Button is an industry-led effort responding to a challenge from the Obama Administration.  The goal is to provide any American paying an energy bill – in a consumer and computer friendly format -- with easy access to their usage data in a through a basic "Green Button" on the website of their electric utility.
