TechConnect Announces Winners of National Innovation Awards

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TechConnect is proud to announce the 2013 winners of the National Innovation Awards, an annual awards program focused on identifying top early-stage technologies through an industry-based vetting system of TechConnect corporate and investment partners.   All National Innovation Awardees will be presenting their technologies at the National Innovation Summit at the Gaylord National Convention Center, just outside of Washington D.C., May 12-16, 2013.  Innovations are submitted from academic technology transfer offices, early-stage companies, small business innovative research (SBIR) awardees, and government and corporate research laboratories. 

Awards are given based on the potential positive impact the technology will have on a specific industry sector.  The commercialization actions and success of these Innovation Awardees will be tracked by TechConnect to encourage continued funding program support and to assist in accelerating the commercialization of American innovation.

TechConnect is jointly hosting three world-class innovation to commercialization events during the week of May 12-16 at the Gaylord Convention Center, National Harbor, MD, including the National SBIR Conference (May 14-16), the National Innovation Summit & Showcase and the 16th annual TechConnect World.   By co-locating these three programs, TechConnect is delivering the entire innovation ecosystem under one roof, providing attendees access to highly vetted emerging innovations from research labs and start-ups, hundreds of corporate and investment partners, to over fifty federal funding agencies and programs.   The joint conference programs include Innovation Spotlight Pitches, Strategic Corporate Partnering Presentations, and Corporate & Agency One-on-One Meetings.

All Innovation Award winners will exhibit their vetted technologies during the National Innovation Summit.  The National Innovation Showcase Hall May 14 and 15 features:

• More than 200 pre-vetted innovations from around the world
• Over 50 Federal Funding Agencies & Components participating in one-on-one and on-site partnering programs.
