HOUSTON, March 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- alliantgroup is proud to partner with Houston-based nonprofit Comp-U-Dopt to put computers into the hands of local students.
Members of the alliantgroup Information Technology team prepared 50 company retired laptops, docking stations and monitors for donation. The computer equipment will soon be in the hands of Houston-area kids, who will use the equipment for a variety of educational activities that will help harness critical skills and encourage their interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
"This partnership is so important for a variety of reasons," said alliantgroup CEO Dhaval Jadav. "Students need access to current technologies in order to keep pace on not just a national, but a global scale. Our country is in desperate need of technical talent that can fill what has become millions of vacant STEM-related jobs. Getting our students prepared by using up-to-date technology is step one in building our future."
Comp-U-Dopt was founded in 2007 with the belief that every child deserves equal access to education and opportunity. Comp-U-Dopt accepts donated computers from companies, organizations and individuals overhauling their technology systems, and refurbishes each unit before delivering them to students without access to a computer at home.
"Everyone remembers their first computer and all the exciting learning opportunities it offered. To be able to help give these kids that experience is just so rewarding," said alliantgroup Senior Vice President of Operations and Technology Rizwan Virani.
This partnership is the latest in a growing list of community outreach initiatives sponsored by the Blue Heart Fund, alliantgroup's nonprofit charity, designed to encourage students to pursue a STEM education at an early age.
Born from alliantgroup's mission of education and awareness, the firm's Blue Heart Fund is a nonprofit charity focused on giving back to the community and fostering STEM education across the nation. Along with fundraising for various philanthropic endeavors and promoting STEM education in K-12 schools, the Blue Heart Fund offers generous STEM-based scholarships to students pursuing a career in the field. The Blue Heart Fund is a nonprofit organization.
